Five colour print from a drawing made during an afternoon sheltering in the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel opposite Waterloo Station in autumn. It has a wonderful façade, the Victory Arch, that was commissioned as a memorial to all of the station’s staff that died in WW1. Sunset coincided with the evening rush hour and I enjoyed seeing the lights come on, and a variety of buskers, welcoming hurrying passengers to their homebound trains. I could not help running Ray Davies’s lyrics through my head all afternoon; it could be Terry and Julie meeting under the arch of the station entrance.
